Does anyone else get the feeling that this subject is not being treated with the due reverence, decorum, and seriousness that it deserves?

Half the posters seem to be more interested in staging a recreation of "Brief Encounter" while others seem to have an unhealthy and morbid obsession with homicidal Kittens.

Please do post and let me know if you agree.

Miss Take, I liked the picture of the good looking ginger-haired young man and his dad-reminds me of someone- I can't remember who though.

What a set of utter wasters. Not one of them has done a days work in their lives. They leech off this country year after year. And as for William and Harry, they are as much use as their mum; a complete waste of space. As for the 'brave soldier in Afghanistan' pantomime, well, I think the phrase 'stage managed' comes to mind.

Think what you like about the French (yes, I realise they have very few good points), BUT, at least they chopped the heads off the Bourgeoisie when they had the chance.

Vive La France.

before you judge Diana, whom had her faults, charles was told by his father to find a female to bear him children, hence the boys,
If charles had been allowed to marry Camilla he would have been happy as he is now, but know he did as his father told him, and it ended up with the two most unhappy people on this earth, the boys are a delight they act know differently with regards to the arm forces then there uncles, dont always agree but there you go.
I agree the royals waste tax payers money, you right over the stage managed, but please dont call our princess she not here anymore and is uncalled for.
As a huge Elvis fan, I would be very worried if the royals had to ask advice from Elvis as Clinton did many times that says a lot does it not.
I not a royalist but do not like to here the princes been slaggesd off, they had a lot to contend with and will get it right when the time comes

I promised I wouldn't respond, but arrrrgh!!

Judge Diana, the poor little mite. There were three in the marriage from the start right? She knew this from the start and went ahead with the marriage right? She was hardly a faithful little puppy herself right?

Diana is one of the most manipulative women I can think of in modern times. There's a reason her in-laws hated her. She wasn't the shy type she made out, else why the hell would she court the press like she did? We think the McCanns play the media, they're nothing on this woman.

This is the woman who would shake the hands of patients dying of disease that money could cure. In fact, the clothes and jewellery she was wearing could probably have saved hundreds of lives. Yet she simply pouted for the camera, went home and busied herself deciding what to wear the next day.

As for the 'boys' being delightful.

They are NOT like everyone else in the armed forces. Most squaddies wouldn't wear a Nazi uniform, joke or not. Not a single squaddie would get away with armed action. Not a single squaddie would be allowed to take the helicopter he was in and park it in his girlfriend's lawn (then the army wouldn't say that it was part of the practice). Not a single squaddie would be allowed to use military helicopters (on our taxes) to pick up his brother to attend a stag do.

Please don't ever insult the intelligence of the most of us who can clearly see that these boys are far from delightful and nothing like the bulk of the armed forces who we owe so very much to.

On hearing about Di's death, my only response was that it was such a shame it wasn't a minibus with the whole lot of them on it.

Parasites.

If only the rest of the country on benefits were afforded the same as the royal family eh? A house paid for by the government is what? An income provided by taxes is what?

So yer, I agree with Cabo - believe it or not. ;)

*****************************************
I have only read the first two and a half pages of this thread and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Partly why it is so much fun is because I have no emotion invested in it. Unlike Madeleine.
So reading up to now it was enjoyment, but this last post to me is what resonates. It is what I find myself agreeing to. Yes, she did pose in expensive clothing that could have kept a ward going and an extra theatre. Angela Jolie has taken her place, as she pouts with injured children, making it alright because someone as beautiful and kind as she, is making it all better, so you guys all go back to sleep now. This woman has just bought a house for some staggering amount .
How many houses can you live in at a time, how many islands can you rest on, when are these people going to admit to their emptiness. They keep reaching for more and more like the Hello photographs and they keep coming back empty handed. Desperate. Over the top indulgent and generally immature.
But such nice boys those princes, such nice smiles.
What other couple do we know that have "nice smiles and because of their position "such nice people".
But we are all so programmed to respond to those sultry pouts and handsome smiles that we elevate them to be regarded as more than us, better than us, something we must aspire to and yet know we could never break those class structures.

So these parasitic vampires desperate for some unattainable fulfillment keep on with their conquests and control. All with protocol and schmotocal and we just buy into it. Daily.

If a woman is fined, what I consider a huge amount. It would be tantamount to a lot of wages in R.S.A - fined because she put her garbage out too early.
xxxx them - don't put out your garbage. And the only way you can not put out any garbage is if you don't buy anything packaged. And if we don't buy anything packaged, they aren't profiting and they lose their fearmongering capacity.
Imagine if for one day, no-one buys anything for an entire day.
Can you imagine new york without a single sale of anything - from corporations coffee, food, papers - would be purchased.

The fear would suddenly change positions and those parasites who feed off us would see they had lost control.
Imagine.

Hi humanist there was talk of that over here recently in NZ. The whole country boycott BP, because they are always the first to put their obscene prices up.

Its a good idea of yours not to buy anything for a day because BP own most of the supermarkets anyway.

Anyone on here who wants to know just what our Royals are about, you need to look at this site:- THRONE OUT - The British anti monarchy site

http://www.throneout.com/

I have had a look at this website, and believe it or not little was new to me.

I have also read Kitty Kelley's book on Prince Philip, which is still banned in this country. Why I don't know as there was little in there that isn't in the public domain already . I read it abroad naturally.

A few years ago there was a three-part television documentary on the House of Windsor.I don't remember which channel. The first two episodes covered the admittedly dysfunctional history of this family. Similar info. to the website and book.

By the end of episode two I was ready to sharpen the guillotine blades and wheel out the tumbrils myself.

The third episode dealt with the present Queen's part in getting rid of Mrs Thatcher when that lady had outstayed her welcome. INSTANTLY ALL WAS FORGIVEN!

For those who didn't see the programme, the fact that the Queen and Mrs T. couldn't stand one another was an open secret. The Queen apparently was worried about the impact that Mrs Thatcher's policies were having on the social cohesion of her country. In particular the events happening around the miner's strike.

The Queen apparently stepped outside her constitutional role and let it be "leaked" that she was not happy with the Thatcher Government. Instantly the Tories dropped 20 points in the opinion polls and never regained it.

It was also sending a clear message to any of Thatcher's rivals in the Conservative party that any move against her would receive the backing of the Palace. The rest is history.

The point I have been trying to make in my posts to this thread (apart from the advisability of keeping automatic weapons out of the hands of Kittens) is that having an unelected person who stands above the elected Government and who can curb its worse excesses is not of itself necessarily a bad thing.

The other point is that you do not have to be a rabid right-winger to see some advantage in having a monarchy.

When I was much younger I remember a friend of my parent's saying " I think she's a socialist is our Liz". At the time I couldn't see what on earth she meant, but it is more apparent now.

I suppose that ultimately it boils down to a question of personal taste and I just happen to like them.

I read recently an article along the lines of "anyone would think from their behaviour that William and Harry actually want the monarchy to be abolished before they get a chance to take over". I've often puzzled over their apparently ready acceptance of the woman who caused their mother so much pain (and yes it seems Diana did know about the relationship and married Charles anyway, but remember she was 19 and for some reason best known to herself, mad about Charles - I don't think her taste in men EVER improved - they were all horrors on wheels to a man). I wonder if William and Harry are out for revenge on the family for its treatment of their mother.
Listen very carefully, I will say this only once: LEAVING SMALL CHILDREN ALONE TO FEND FOR THEMSELVES IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOUR!!

I certainly do, it's DISGUSTING, what happened to RESPECT eh?

one, two, three, all together:

GOD BLESS YOU YOUR ROYAL HIGHNESS!

Mm, not bad loves but can we just put a teensy bit more conviction into it?

I've been avoiding this thread simply because I adore the royal family. How dare Cabo state this, then go on to slate the royals...
