8 years since beautiful Lauren Wright died

If you have problems then perhaps one of the members might have a suggestion or tell you how they coped with a certain situation. Also we could post links for all children that are missing and need to be found. All aspects of child welfare discussed here, new and old cases. Children that have been let down by Social Services and the authorities.

This is a truly sad, sickening story of a poor little girl who never had a happy life. Where were social services when they were needed?? I'll tell you where they were. Busy poking there noses into cases where they are truly not needed!! I speak from personal experience here, I got reported to social services, a so called 'friend' said my 17 year old daughter was being abused!! If my 17 year old daughter was being abused, she would have reported it herself!! All the time and money spent investigating, holding case conferences etc, could have been better spent saving children that really are at risk!! As it turned out my case was dropped after it was decided that it was someone being malicious!! It really disgusts me when I hear of children dying at the hands of their abusers when social workers throw all their efforts into cases that are not based on anything concrete. They have to review how they operate. BTW I also signed the petition.
Rant over so sorry everyone. I just have strong views on child welfare.

Little Snowdrop
Little Snowdrop

The world may never notice if a Snowdrop doesn 't bloom,

Or even pause to wonder if the petals fall too soon,

But every life that ever forms or even comes to be,

Touches the world in some small way for all eternity.

The little one we longed for was swiftly here and gone,

But the love that was then planted is a light that still shines on,

And though our arms are empty our hearts know what to do,

Every beating of our hearts says that we love you.

I was sadden to read your story, this yet again highlights the mistakes made by the current child welfare story. I hope both you and your daughter have come through you experience with social services unscathed and strong. Thank you for supporting the past, present and future victims of a severely flawed child welfare system.

I am sure many people will read your post and feel so awfully ashamed and sad for humanity that we can hardly comment. I swing between stomach churning misery when I remember these things and terrible murderous Scorpio rage against the people who can vent their terrible spite and self-hatred on such a defenceless little soul. Feel capable of murder myself, and wonder about in- prison justice which might be meted out.
The whole thing is awful, people around MUST have seen what was going on, teachers? (the only bruises I had on my legs at age 10 were from a pinchy teacher!!)
I look at photos of my little girl at that same age,so loved (late arrival, ma at 41) and protected, which is the very least you should do for kids.
Rest in peace little Angel Lauren.
Thanks for reminding us, Bugalugs

I feel as you do, if i voiced out loud how i would like to punish some of these abusers i would be locked up. Tracy Wright had her 15 year sentence reduced to 10 years, her brief claimed that she (Wright) lacked reasoning skills, she claimed that Wright had the reasoning skills of a 10 year old.......and she worked at a school supervising children!!!!!!!!!!
Wrights brief claimed that she loved her own children and surely that was punishment enough that she be seperated from them and her relationship with them ruined......un fu cking believable.
During Wrights time on remand she was attacked by inmates, they threw boiling water over her and kicked and punched her, Wright complained and said she feared for her life......i ask myself did it ever cross her mind that Lauren feared for her life.

In the weeks leading up to Laurens death she weighed just over 2 stones (she was weeks away from turning 7 before she died), her hair was failing out in clumps due to malnutrition. Lauren was seen by doctors, teachers (only 28 children at school), social workers, family members and residents of Welney in the weeks leading upto her death........no one helped.....WHY?????

Lauren died alone, an agonising, slow death, her digestive system so badly damaged by a blow from Wright that it collapsed. Wright is out on the streets now moving amongst us, living her life......Where is the Justice.

My heart breaks for all these special little angels, and as long as i walk this earth i will not let them be forgotten.

Edited to add
Thank you so much for reading about Lauren and sparing thoughts for her.

Poor Lauren was let down by every adult she knew,if only one person had acted for her,the outcome could have been so different.

Oh poor little girl. :( I had not heard of this either. What a sad, horrifying life for this little girl. When I hear these kinds of stories, I wonder how others involved with this child could help themselves from seriously injuring that woman. I would have signed the petition, but it says you have to be a UK resident.
