I'm eagerly awaiting the discussion which will include, I hope, the dynamics of the interactions of the various characters. These fascinate me, and those I've discovered so far are intricate.

I'm now up to Chapter 12. I'll finish my first read, probably tomorrow.

well, don't all rush at once

I am not going to start this discussion, because although I am re-reading, I have read 'The Echo' before and am afraid of giving too much away - I feel safer responding to others

when there is something to respond to, that is

cushty, I was going to start out with the main characters, but I'm doing a quick re-read to get a better handle on Amanda. I've missed something in my first time through the first six chapters.

played on TV by Joely Richardson, immaculate pale blonde hair and dressed in white

so what is it about Amanda that eludes you?

At this point, I do not have a feel for her as a person; she's just a shell. No soul or spirit yet. I'll find what I've missed.

I agree with you torti regarding Amanda. She is kept at a distance, cool and misterious.

I think that's just what the author wants you to feel about her

anyone care to suggest the main theme of this novel, in one word?

I like redemption. I'd thought of salvation but it did not quite fit.
