Death of a Professional

Postby warriston » Wed May 07, 2008 10:08 pm

Doctors are considered professionals. They take an oath to protect life at all costs. It has been impossible to view the McCann case without viewing it through this filter. One was a specialist in his field after all.

OK. News story today. Mark Saunders(32) a barrister was shot by police after opening fire on them first. His public life seemed impressive. He was described as "an emerging talent" notable for his "maturity and unflabbability."

In private things were a little different. Described by a neighbour as being "fond of the sherbet" he was seen outside his estranged wife's £2.2 million apartment "rocking back and forth and crying, kicking the pavement." When he eventually went in she exited in distress and he began his siege with the police, which included taking pot shots at neighbours (Murat?)

He was shot dead as a result.

And his legal speciality? "Divisions of assets after divorce."

A cautionary tale indeed.

On sherbet - is that beer (as in my youth) or cocaine (as I suspect might now be the case).

Coke and cannabis together plus some tendency to mental illness seems to be a pretty deadly combination - I've lost track of the number of violent incidents that involve coke, cannabis and an unstable personality I've read about.

We know that in the McCann there are people involved who partied very hard at uni and who perhaps developed habits of substance abuse at that time.

The fact that we have been told hardly anything about the past of the Tapas 9 is in itself pretty remarkable.

Yes indeed, we now know more about Mark Saunders than we do about the Tapas 9's past and all this only happened today.
But it only goes to show that 'professionalism' is no guide to character. :drunken:

Bomaris,
From the context of Saunders drinking in a nearby bar, I assume "the sherbet" is a reference to alcohol.

This illustrates that there is sometimes a huge gulf between someone's public and private behaviour.I wonder if this barrister's family were aware of his drug habit? The McCanns's relatives and church-going friends could be equally in the dark as to Kate and Gerry's true natures.

In the Daily Mail today. it said that it was the woman that was the Divorce Asses Lawyer.

It said they were still married and only for 18 months. So very confused where the above come from.

Another witness said 7 shots then silence.

His father is requesting the details. And sadly it sounds like a repeat of the Illegal Brazillian. Was it the same set up. But he did not let up shooting. And someyet yet again said made a throat cut sign on his throat Police. not very nice was it. Mind you this is a newspaper report.

What was the row about then. Very sad. If this is yet another result of the Bank Holidy that's a tally of 11. So many people just go off the rails.
This last Christmas and Easter seemed remarkably quiet. But so many kids and wives are shot stabbed and killed over the holidays.
