[b]Two young boys have been found dead in a parked car in the Lennoxtown area of Glasgow.

The youngsters were just two and six years old.

Strathclyde Police said they are treating the deaths as suspicious.

The bodies were discovered in the vehicle in Crow Road.

Sky News reporter Frazer Maude said: "We are not sure as to why the car was found, whether it was through following a line of enquiry or someone came across it."

Inspector Jan Connolly said the boys "were found this evening (Saturday) within a parked car".

"Police are following a positive line of enquiry," she added.

The area where the boys were found is a prosperous suburb in north of the city near the Campsie Fells.

Crow Road runs alongside Campsie Golf Club and is reportedly popular with cyclists.

Can somebody please tell me what the world is coming to? :( :( :( I feel sick with sadness that yet more young lives have been snuffed out before they even had a chance to begin. It is utterly heartbreaking :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Don't think i can take any more of child abuse/murders/killings
I'm sick to death of it
I know i am overreacting, the news reports 'highlights', stories like this, but, one report is too much, at the end of the day, the children/people involved aren't statistics, they were living, breathing, human beings.
I don't even want to think about their last minutes

((((stuffing butty))))

I don't think you are overreacting at all and I think I know how you feel.

I am not ashamed to admit that I shed a few tears after reading about this and I too am trying not to think about those poor little mites last moments or how they came to end their days by being dumped in a car.

Children are so important, they are our future and should be protected at all costs.

It is at times like this that I am ashamed to be part of the human race that demonstrates time and time again that they do not share those sentiments in any way, shape or form

Rocky, I've just wakened up (now can't sleep) and came on here for a wee read and saw this post. How awful. :(

I've just checked the BBC site and found this:

Two children found dead in a car

Two boys have been found dead in a parked car in the outskirts of Glasgow.

The bodies of the two-year-old and six-year-old were found in the car in Lennoxtown, police said.

Strathclyde Police Inspector Jan Connolly said they were treating the deaths as suspicious and had "a positive line of inquiry".

Strathclyde Ambulance later confirmed a man had been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. They did not release any further details.

I hate to say it, but I'd rather it was a father trying to commit suicide in the car, I'm thinking of a hose pipe in the exhaust type of thing, and taking his wee boys with him, than anything more sinister.

* I don't mean that it's ok to do this to your kids, I just mean that at least the wee tots would have died 'peacefully' and not, well.... :x

I don't think I've explained myself well, I just hope no one is offended by my comments. :(

I remember that poor woman, (poor children), who had to listen to her children talking to her on the phone, just before,or as, her ex husband was gassing them in the car.
It was not far from here, (North Wales),
Gees, that was absolutely terrible. I don't mean it was any worse than other cases where fathers have done this, but the fact that she had to talk to the boys whilst it was happening.

That sounds awful, to refer to the boys as 'cases' but i think you know what i mean

This is so sad what really angers me though is if you want to take your own life fine thats your decision but to take the lives of your children is unforgivable

It does seem to suggest that the hosepipe scenario may be what has happened and if the father is alive then hanging is too b****y good for him

Human life is worth nothing now the whole world has gone mad and its so sad that 2 little lives have been snuffed out for nothing I just hope the poor mother is not around if you know what I mean as this would just kill you wouldnt it.

Oh that's so awful.

I mean the situation, not your comments.

I'd just like to point out, it's merely my speculation that this is what has happened, there's been nothing to say what happened in the news yet (as far as I know).

I've just put the local radio station on (Clyde 1 - what a load of c*** that is  ) but I'm having to listen to it via the digi tv on my computer so it's slowing the computer down a lot, it's taken me ages to get to post a reply. If I hear anything on their news - I'm assuming it'll be on the Hour - I'll post it here, if it hasn't already been reported.

Looks as though our suspicions may have been right all along, granted it's just talk, nothing confirmed yet, but it does seem to be the most likely scenario under the circumstances. Those poor wee lads. :(

TWO CHILDREN have been found dead in a car parked at a beauty spot to the north of Glasgow. A man was taken from the scene to a hospital in the city.

The bodies of the two-year-old and six-year-old boys were found late yesterday afternoon. Strathclyde Police say they are treating the deaths as suspicious.

The Scottish Ambulance Service later confirmed that a man had been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. They did not release any further details.

The car was discovered at Clachan of Campsie in Crow Road, Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire.

Inspector Jan Connolly said: "Police are investigating the suspicious deaths of two children aged two and six years old.

They were found this evening within a parked car. Police are following a positive line of inquiry."

Brian Scott, a barman working at the nearby Campsie Golf Club, said that golfers had been distraught when they learned two young boys had been found.

He said that two ambulances had gone up Crow Road shortly after 3pm. An hour later they saw one coming racing back down the road with a police escort and blue light flashing.

A second ambulance followed later, but at a more steady pace and without an escort.

"We knew then that something terribly tragic had happened," he added Scott said talk around the club was that a father had gone to the beauty spot with his two sons. The three were not thought to be local to Lennoxtown.

Last night police would not confirm when or where the bodies had been found.

Officers blocked the B822 Crow Road to all traffic heading north out of Lennoxtown. A recovery van was allowed through the roadblock at 10.50pm.

Just found this report: http://scotlandonsunday.scotsman.com/scotland/Brothers-two-and-six-found.4049320.jp

Brothers, two and six, found dead in car

Grim find: a policewoman cordons off the area where the car was discovered with the boys' bodies inside. Their father was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

It is understood the tragedy was discovered by a group of youngsters who happened to be passing. Paramedics raced to the scene, but it was too late to save the boys' lives. The man was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The B822 Crow Road was cordoned off for about half a mile around the incident, and closed to all traffic heading north out of Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire.

Frank De Goey, who lives in the area, said: "It was about 5.15pm when we suddenly saw police, fire engines, CID and ambulances charging up Crow Road. We've heard somebody tried to commit suicide. It's absolutely shocking."

A worker at Campsie Golf Club said the area was known as an accident blackspot, but it soon became apparent this was not another car accident.

He said: "Two ambulances arrived but only one went past with the flashing blue lights, and then there was a helicopter overhead. The news started to filter back to us. It has got us all in a state of shock."

A woman in Crow Road, who did not want to be named, said: "There have been suicides up there before – it's a secluded spot. We noticed just after 5pm that police were speeding up there. We could not believe it when we heard."

David Whitton, MSP for Strathkelvin and Bearsden, said: "Obviously we don't know exactly what has happened here, but I am really shocked to hear about it. It is a terrible tragedy for two young children to lose their lives in these circumstances.

"Like everyone else, I will want to know how this tragedy happened, but we'll have to wait for the outcome of the police investigation. In the meantime, my condolences go out to the family or families involved."

As much as I was [half] hoping this would be case, given the circumstances, I still feel sick to my stomach reading it as fact.:

edited to change colour of font for my reply, to make it clear it wasn't part of the news report.

Just heard this on the news, I cant believe that some people can be so cruel. As has been said if you ared epressed and wish to end your life thats your choice but to take the lives of your innocent children is beyond comprehension and contempt.

I know Mothers can and do kill their children (there was a woman in Glasgow who threw her son over the balcony of her high rise flat a few years ago) so please Im not being sexist here but there is an awful lot of cases where Fathers decide to kill their children when they are involed in splitting from the Mum and have access.
Its almost as if they want to hurt their exes with the worst thing possible, to take away from them what is most precious.

I also remember that case where the poor Mum had to listen on the phone. :(

What a sad, sad story.

I'm heartbroken about this. I was quietly hoping, that it would be fumes and they would have drifted off to sleep, but it doesn't seem like it

Dead Boys In Car 'Treated As Murder'

Updated:20:38, Sunday May 04, 2008
The deaths of two boys whose bodies were found in a car at a Scottish beauty spot are being treated as murder.
The victims have now been named as two-year-old Jay Ross and Paul Ross, six, from Glasgow.

Their remains were discovered in the vehicle in an isolated car park near Lennoxtown, East Dunbartonshire on Saturday.

It is understood the children suffered a violent death.

A 40-year-old man - believed to be the children's father - was taken from the scene to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

He is reported to be in a critical condition with severe burns.

Post-mortem examinations were carried out on the two boys on Saturday.

The grim discovery was made at around 5.30pm near the Campsie Fells, a beauty spot 15 miles north of Glasgow.

The area is popular with families and hillwalkers.

It had been reported that the boys' parents were estranged.

A recovery vehicle has since removed the car but Strathclyde Police officers remained at the scene examining evidence.

There was another story I heard today that in another part of Scotland, a woman and a 7 year old boy were found dead in a house - again in suspicious circumstances.

Found it.

A murder inquiry has been launched after a brother and sister were found dead at a house in Fife.

Police named the victims as 25-year-old Michelle Thomson and her brother Ryan Thomson, aged seven.

Both were found at the house of their father, Robert Thomson, at Muiredge Cottages in Buckhaven, near Methil, at about 1900 BST on Saturday.

Mr Thomson, 49, is being treated in hospital in Dunfermline. Police have set up an incident room.

'Terrible tragedy'

Fife Constabulary confirmed that other family members, including the children's mother, had been informed.

The force were appealing for any members of the public who may have been around the Percival Road and Methilhaven Road areas to contact them.

Ch Insp Andy Morris said: "This is a terrible tragedy which has shocked the entire community, including the police officers who are involved in the investigation.

"We are working with community representatives, including the area's four councillors, to provide reassurance and support to both the family and residents of Buckhaven to help them cope with these very difficult events.

"I appreciate there will be some disruption in the local community over the next few days and I am seeking the support of the residents to bear with us during this time.

"There will be an increased number of community police officers in the area for additional support if required."
