HawkEyes 1...once again a very interesting thread which shows the power of language...

It also reminds me of how the press releases issued by PR teams/individuals have carefully measured words and phrases within them and how headlines in articles can also have such an effect on the reader.....

That would actually be quite a good thread to explore IMO...there have been numerous examples of headlines with puns and double meanings. over the past 11 months..some quite outrageous..sorry I digress..just thinking aloud.... :)

Many thanks for today's highly topical euphemisms, cushty!

I have added them to the Master List exactly as your interpretations:

McCann reconstruction = PR opportunity

Police reconstruction = Trial

"independent" (tests etc.) = paid for by McCanns

Many thanks, highqualitywristband. I have added this euphemism as:

Independent = Paid for by the McCanns out of Madeleine's Fund; for example, the "independent" DNA tests conducted after the PJ found evidence of bodily fluids in the Renault Scenic

Many thanks for all of these terrific additions for the list of euphemisms, Montgomery Burns, frencheuropean, galena, and strangerandstranger. I can see you are keeping up-to-date! They are now all included in the master list on page 1.

Also many thanks for your kind words, pike1.
