"We have found a fair number of bones, the majority of which are from animals," he said.

Does that mean that a minority of the bones are NOT animal bones?

I'm sure abuse took place in Jersey, but hopefully not murder. However,I believe bones found at the home earlier might have been human. It is IMO quite possible that bodies buried there were from the home's past when no doubt pauper children with no families may have been buried on the premises.

'Hopefully not murder' A child's skull was found. I think we are more than halfway there to a murder case.

I read in the Guardian last Saturday about the paedophile Edward Paisnel who was jailed for 30 years for his heinous crimes. 'Over a 13 year period from 1957 paisnel broke into the children's family homes wearing a mask and wristbands studded with nails, and dragged them outside to be assaulted. One victim bore his child; police believe he was responsible for at least one murder.

The dogs have uncovered torture chambers. 100s of telephone calls about abuse. It chills my bones even thinking about it.

It depends how long the skull has been there. The building dates from 1860 something,a time when children there must have died in epidemics etc so,if the bones date from then, they're not evidence of murder..

"We have found a fair number of bones, the majority of which are from animals," he said.

The BBC News doesn't seem to be referring to this specific point.
