I was reading the privacy policy on tis site and obviously I understand about cookies being left on my compter as I access the site but I came across the sentence

"We may also create cookies external to the phpBB software whilst browsing "The Three Arguidos",

Can anyone tell me what tham means. What external cookies is it talking about?

standard privacy policy that comes with all php forums.

just google the phrase

We may also create cookies external to the phpBB

Usually its to do with web statistics cookies created for that purpose though.

You could ask creators of the software to clarify though.

I accept that the phrase is on all their forums. I wasn't trying to suggest the £a were doing anything dodgy. However, I can't ask on the site you gave me as I'm not a member and anyway don't know which topic it would come under. I was hoping that you as the techie would be able to explain.

Hi thanks for replying but I'm afraid I'm technologically challenged. I still don't understand what it means by "cookies external to the phpBB software" Is this like Yahoo which was monitoring web use outwith it's own sites? or is this cookies getting placed by external agencies? Sorry to be so thick but I'm just totally confused.
