I don't know anything about those consoles ... but it is rather ironic.

Will those poor suckers that have 'ring of death' consoles be refunded?

I believe it's been acknowledged as a design fault, so if your Xbox goes belly-up within 3 years, they'll replace it.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving company. Too bad for the consumers, as usual.

Nice to see the prob at the exhibition in full view.

Most of the probs are with boxes made in Nov 2005. The build quality was poor, especially the soldering. I have opened one up and checked it out..Keeping the box as cool as poss is best. You can buy a clip-on fan unit.
The guarantee has been extended to 3 years and is costing M$ a fortune to save face. See the Wiki...
