Anybody Know The Rules & Regulations For Weddings In Spain ?

Postby Achtung Baby » Fri Apr 18, 2008 9:33 am

I have looked on the internet for information but can't find any..................

I have found wedding organisers and they say they sort everything out...............

But they don't go into detail what they sort out.................

Is it true 21 days notice has to be given ?................

If i can arrange it myself i will...............

Don't really want to spend x amont of £'s on organisers if it's something i arrange myself.................
Hellothere is back......................

Hi, it depends on your situation. If you are not a Spanish citizen and are marrying a Spanish citizen the paperwork can take a long time (I have friends who have done this).

This site might help:

Yes, Gran Canaria is legally part of Spain. Here's some more info:

I'm sort of assuming you're a Brit marrying a Spanish person. Put me right if that's not the case (I'm no expert but a Brit living in Spain for 15 years).

Yes, Achtung wedding organisers do sort out everything, but they are very, very expensive.
21 days notice has to be given, and one has to reside in the country prior to the wedding for 4/5 days.

YOu can arrange it yourself, but you need firstly to set up an appointment with the person you may want to marry you especially if its a civil. If a church wedding, you may have difficulties getting an english speaking pastor/priest
Gerry is alleged to have exchanged up to 14 messages on his mobile phone during dinner with the so-called Tapas Nine on May 3.

Achtung, please look into it very carefully and read the small print!! I enquired last year as my daughter wanted to get married here and I was told there were only Catholic ceremonies performed here and they could have a civil ceremony but they would also have to have another back in the UK for it to be legal! This WAS only advice from someone I spoke to, but he seemed to know what he was talking about! Please check whether you will be legally married if you marry here!
