Yesterday we had Bix pts - he was 6 and a half years old.

Bix had been poorly for some time but didn't make a fuss. He had a nasty abcess under his tail last year and subsequently had his tail amputated so that it could be dealt with properly. He never really healed sufficiently and suffered from continual abcesses around his rump, when one area cleared another became infected. Steroids/AB's were doing nothing nor continual cleaning, powders and creams. He had open sores that refused to heal - I think his body was shutting down, unable to fight any more. So we made the kindest decision.

Oh I am so sorry to hear that, but he is no longer suffering and you were very brave to make this decision, the best one in my opinion. I know I had to make that decision twice within 4 days with my last two dogs, it is so awful and we are thinking about you.
To my critics
When I'm in a sober mood, I worry, work and think,
When I'm in a drunken mood, I gamble, play and drink,
But when my moods are over and my time has come to pass,
I hope I'm buried upside down, so the world may kiss my ar*e

I am so sorry to hear that Mr Shifter, but you made the right decision. When we love our pets we don't want to see the suffer unnecessarily and because we love them we have to make the right and the kindest decision, that's what you did, you had no other choice.

Mr. Shifter, my heart goes out to you. RIP Bix and run free up on Rainbow Bridge until the day you are reunited with your family.

I'd like to share with you a poem I wrote for my sweet little Cajun after she passed away and I could hardly bear the thought she wasn't here with me anymore. I have shared it with a few people who have lost a beloved furbaby and I'd like to share it with you, Mr. Shifter. I hope this makes you feel a little better and to know that Bix will never be far away and will live in your heart forever.

A Message From Rainbow Bridge

When my old paws can no longer touch
The softness of your face;
I want you to know I'm not really gone,
I'm still with you in this place.

I'm with you in the morning when you get up
To wipe the sleep from your weary eyes;
Just like when I was a tiny little pup
And I woke you with tiny puppy cries.

I'm still with you in the car when you go,
I still love the wind in my face;
If you take a little time and go extra slow,
You'll see me in the other seat in my place.

I'm at the door at night when you get home
To greet you just like in days gone by;
My little angel paws reach up to seek your touch
And to wipe away the tears from your eyes.

I know you love me just as much as you did
On the day that I went away;
I want you to know I'm still with you in spirit
And I'm waiting for our reunion day.

Mr Shifter I am so sorry to hear about your beloved dog :cry:
I am still asking, what have you done with your child?
Where is Maddy?

Mr Shifter - I am so sorry. We (me an hubby that is) have had dogs for over 40 years. Always had at least two and one time we got up to four. All rough collies. Every one of the ones we have had before the two we have now, has had to be put to sleep at the end. It is always an awful moment when you finally agree to it and it is done. I really really feel for you, but as everyone else has said, it is the best thing you can ever do for your beloved pet. My sympathies are with you. Love to you,
