Clothes, furniture and pet hair - any advice please?

Postby Scribbler » Tue Apr 01, 2008 4:49 pm

I have a fluffy white cat who's adorable and I love her dearly, but her fur is dense and long, and she sheds 365 days a year.

My other half and I both need to look smart for work and it's not easy when your clothes are constantly covered in cat hair. Apart from keeping clothes inside covers, using sticky tape to remove pet hair etc, is there anything else I could do? Are there any fabrics that are less attractive to pet hairs than others??

thanks,

Hi Poppyflowers - other half says he used to work with a woman who wore leather trousers to work and totally approves!! Thanks for all your advice, I will put it into practice, having just de-catted other half's new suit using parcel tape!

Hi bugalugs - my cat Duchess says hi to Boo. I was just eating dinner and she was trying to rob the fish off my plate!

cheapest way is to wear a damp cotton glove and rub down and off

either that or wear white

Looking at it from another angle, try brushing the cat daily to remove some of the loose hair. Furminator combs are really good but expensive. Also there are a couple of supplements available from the pet shop like Vitapet that supposedly cut down on excess moulting.

Alternatively, trade her in for Sphynx - no hair no problem!
Thought for the day: Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

Also I have just purchased a new 'Miele Dog & Cat' vacuum cleaner - which is fantastic! I don't how I have lived without it up to now. Makes the Dyson look like a kiddies toy!.

you are kidding me !!!!! i spent what $400 or $500 on the dyson animal ?

give me a link to the miele pretty please !!!

i LOVE vacuum cleaners, it's one of my oddities.....

(also have 2 dogs and 2 birds)

whatever next - a discussion of vacuum cleaners on a forum called 'Our Pets' :D

a Miele won't lower your blood pressure like a cat can, you know (though admittedly shedding cats are not too good for it either)

Another thing about the Miele (How sad am I) there is a dinky little storage area inside the vacuum cleaner for the tools - you can play with it for hours
