plath and magnalady, thank you for your wishes. Indeed they are rescue dogs, aged about 4 ish and 6ish and came into rescue as a result of a 'sad loss' which I take to mean their original owner is no longer able to take care of them, either ill health or death, I'm not sure which. They are assured of a lively time here although no longer as gun dogs, we don't shoot.

We went up to the rescue centre again today to take them out, it was great to watch my teens handling the dogs, the teens behaved almost as well as the dogs  . As we have to be away for a couple of days, thought it best to pick up the dogs once we get home to ensure they are completely settled into a routine before we start taking them far and wide.

Both of them seem to like the car, jumping in with enthusiasm which is great, some dogs loathe it.

magna, is the cat the boss?

Thanks for the tip morg..I THINK I have the hang of it  answer to your question..no no no..the cat is not the boss..LOL the little pup you see there is a Jack Russell Terrorist :) only kidding, she is a sweetie but bossy boots sums her up! She is 10 months old, so still learning the rules. Her latest trick is to run behind the cat and dive underneath him, keep running and give the cat a ride on her back..the cat gives her such a look..as if to say.."how very rude of you" :P

Congratulations on your adoption of the two labs, Morg. It's so good of you to give them a home. I had two black labs that were sisters, "Sophie" and "Rita", until they passed on from old age. They were great dogs around my children and their friends. I hope you will enjoy your labs as much as I did mine.

Once again, thank you for the kind wishes, I think we are the lucky ones TBH, such a delightful pair who really do deserve to be loved. Our two lovely girls have started a blog to keep the rescue people up to speed http://gelliegirls.blogspot.com/
