Of course Majorca has only cropped up twice in this whole story.

There seems to be a lot of 'pro' threads started today,....so just bumping up this thread in the hope that one of them may be able to tell us just WHY would a multi-millionaire (kennedy..plastic window man), be so interested in protecting the McCanns???

SO interested that he is paying for their lawyer (Smethhurst), their team of barristers (Caplan..specialist in avoiding extraditions. And reputedly charges £7000 per HOUR!), their PR spokesperson (Clarice  ), recommends, and pays for) Meturdo3, lends them his own home to do a TV interview, AND makes clandestine 'visits' to other suspects/witnesses???

Come on pro's! Tell us just WHY is it so vitally important to Kennedy that the McCanns do not face further questioning by the PJ!!

Was he there on May 3rd? Did he leave PLD in his own private plane??

Quark, I've said it before and I'll say it again (and I'm not a pro): Kennedy is a Robert Maxwell of windows. He saw a chance to make money. He will have massively recouped his investment via Emma Loach's production company. He stands to make even more money, even if the McCanns are found guilty.

The idea that someone of his wealth would be hanging around PDL is, well, ludicrous.

Sorry Fenugreek, but have to disagree with you on this one.

I am certain that no multi-millionaire would risk his reputation, and possible criminal charges (witness tampering, perverting course of justice), by making clandestine approaches to other suspects or witnesses in this criminal case  He has enough money to have just sent paid lackeys to do it...whilst keeping himself at 'one degree of separation'!!

What he wanted from Robert Murat was 'too sensitive' for him to have left to paid lackeys. It was so important to him that he had to go personally, and 'hang around' PLD as you put it!!

Why do you think that Kennedy wouldn't be in PLD at the beginning of May??

He probably wouldn't have stayed at the Ocean Club, I grant you, ..he could have been staying at a luxury villa nearby, or some luxury hotel outside of PLD,...and just met up with the Tapas group during days or evenings.
He does have his own private plane, and a luxury home of his own in Majorca. Why do you think that millionaires would not go to Portugal?? I have wealthy friends, and they go very, very often for 3/4 day breaks all aound the Med(they usually stay in luxury apartments or Villa's...usually belonging to someone else in their 'set'). (though their main holidays are in far flung places ....Barbados, South Africa, Pacific islands etc). But they still love their Med breaks!

Probably the only place a multi-millionaire would vacation in/near PDL is the Boavista golf resort, because of the golf - its a highly-rated golfcourse.

I think if a millionaire had a group of friends or acquaintances who were holidaying anywhere, and he wanted to 'spend time with them, he would go to any place.....but just stay in better accommodation than they did.

And PLD is a beautiful unspoilt place. Lots of millionaires have their own villa's around the outskirts of PLD. And yes, the golf would be a draw for them too.

Hi quark1.Yes I guess a multi-millionaire might go and visit or stay with a friend at their villa if they knew anyone in PDL area. But even if they didn't know anyone there I think they still might visit Boavista golf resort at PDL, for the golf. The golfcourse has many posh villas actually on the course. A lot of rich UK people have villas at algarve golf resorts. Also note that G is a golfer.
Agreed PDL is a beautiful place.

Kennedy could easily have been staying in one of the Villa's around the golf course. And just meeting up with members of the Tapas to socialise.

I should imagine that such a high profile businessman would have hot-tailed it out of there as soon as he knew that a child of the party had 'gone missing'! he wouldn't have wanted to be associated with that in any way.
Private plane. Out of there.

Robert Murat, because of his translation work, may know that Kennedy was there! Hence Kennedy's strange secret visit to Robert.

He would not visit Robert just to 'help' 2 people that he supposedly never met before

Perhaps he was afraid Murat's testimony could threaten his investment. If he was responsible for the McCanns going to prison, it would knock twenty million pounds off their long term value to him.

I don't think he is doing this for 'investment' purposes. I think he is 'supporting' the McCanns because they have 'something' on him.

No 'squeaky clean' multi millionaire would besmirch their good name and standing in the business community by getting mixed up in this case...which is about the fate of a 3yr old child!

Those that rushed to help in the beginning probably DID think believe the 'abduction' story....but are now doubtful, and have distanced themselves.

Not Kennedy...he is getting ever more 'involved'...even going to see the other arguido

Would Phillip Green do that do you think?

He has a terrible reputation within the business community. He's a shark and he doesn't care.

Perhaps I meet a lower class of millionaires than you do, Quark1  but it doesn't surprise me that he decided on the hands on approach, reckless though it might appear to outsiders.

As the subject of golf club has now emerged it has reminded me of a poster many months ago (probably Mirror Forum) who was himself a Pro or someone with connections and appeared to have information he wished to share, but was immediately shouted down and disappeared. Can anyone remember this. Sorry my memory is not what it used to be.
Thanks.

Maybe having a 'reputation' as being a 'shark' in business dealings, even of making your millions by ripping-off ordinary members of the public (or suppliers) and asset stripping companies, is something that he would not mind? He may think it has a certain 'machismo'..... you know, the 'ruthless, hard-edged exploit all the loopholes on your journey upwards type of thing?

And many many other 'business' people have made their millions in the same way. So THEY would not think badly of him for that. THEY would 'admire' that sort of behaviour

Helping to cover-up the probable death of a 3yr old child however, is a totally different thing. I would think that even businessmen who 'admire' his money-making 'skills' (even if shady) would be repulsed. So his standing in the business community will be damaged if the McCanns are charged. And it will be ruined if it is discovered that he 'helped' them even though he KNEW there was no abduction!! Or that it was him who left PLD in a private plane in the early hours of May 4th!
